The project result is more than code
In technology projects, it is not enough to decide who owns the code. Documentation, configurations, training data, models, know-how, graphics, integrations, supplier tools and open-source components may also be critical.
Questions to ask before signing
- what the project result is and when it is created,
- which elements belong to the client and which to the supplier,
- whether the client receives an assignment, a licence or only service access,
- which open-source components are used,
- whether the solution can be developed with another supplier,
- what happens to rights after termination.
The highest risk appears when business expectations are not translated into precise contractual terms. Intellectual property should be designed as deliberately as the implementation scope.
